Overview
Epithalon, also spelled epitalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide from the bioregulator research literature — four residues, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly.
Epithalon was synthesised by Vladimir Khavinson's group as a defined analogue of epithalamin, a polypeptide preparation extracted from the pineal gland; the name comes from the epiphysis, the gland's older anatomical name. Four unmodified residues make it one of the simplest molecules in the catalog to characterise by HPLC and mass spectrometry.
