Overview
KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val — the three C-terminal residues of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone — and one of the smallest peptides in the catalog.
Alpha-MSH is a 13-residue peptide cleaved from pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), and KPV corresponds to its positions 11 to 13. Research interest in the tripeptide comes from the finding that this C-terminal fragment retains part of the parent hormone's activity on its own, in a molecule a fraction of the size.
