Overview
Melanotan-II is a cyclic, lactam-bridged heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone — structurally distinct from the linear Melanotan I, which is listed separately.
Its lactam bridge joins the side chains of aspartic acid and lysine, closing six of the seven residues into a ring, and the norleucine at the N-terminus takes the place of the native hormone's methionine. Both changes make the molecule far more resistant to enzymatic breakdown than linear alpha-MSH. It was developed at the University of Arizona.
Three related peptides are also in the catalog: Melanotan I, the linear 13-residue analogue; PT-141, which differs from Melanotan-II only at the C-terminus; and KPV, the native hormone's C-terminal tripeptide. Melanotan-II is offered as a 10 mg fill.
