Overview
PT-141, known by its nonproprietary name bremelanotide, is a cyclic heptapeptide melanocortin analogue. It is a metabolite of Melanotan-II, which is also in the catalog.
Structurally it is Melanotan-II with the C-terminal amide replaced by a free carboxylic acid, Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH, and the two are studied as a closely matched pair across the five melanocortin receptors, MC1R to MC5R. Research on PT-141 has centred on the MC3 and MC4 receptors of the central nervous system.
